I believe wall art is an awesome opportunity to make a home your own. There are so many different types, be it posters, prints, or even personal photos. It's a chance to be creative and make a statement without having to make a huge monetary commitment.
Picking the items to hang on our walls has been an ongoing process for me, one that is nowhere near complete. But each time I acquire something new, find the perfect spot for it and get it hung, the room just looks a little more...done.
Below are some of my favorite items 'hanging around' -haha- our house and a little background on each one.
This Harry Potter poster was given to me by one of my best friends as a bridal shower gift. Being that I'm big HP fan, I think this poster is a cool adult way to show it. I love how there is a little explanation of each spell and drawing to go with it. It's definitely a conversation piece that I will treasure for years to come.
Ahhh, this is a piece I coveted for a loooong time. It was at my parents house hanging in the BASEMENT, where nobody saw it and I still had to beg my Mom for it! It was her parents, so I guess she is kind of attached to it. But I told her it needed to be on display and not hidden away where she only sees it when she goes to the basement fridge for something. Needless to say it is now on 'loan' to me -that's what she thinks!-. ;)
Well obviously I have wedding pictures up. To be precise I have a gallery wall in my living room filled with wedding pictures. I feel like this is acceptable because we haven't hit the 1 year anniversary mark. After that point, I think it will be time to change some of them out, although I think I'll keep the above one for a while, it's just too cute.
This map of California was used at our engagement party for our guests to sign. I love to read all the sweet and funny messages our friends and family wrote to us and friends who come over like to look at it and find where they signed. I like having it on display because it was a great party and brings back awesome memories of that night.
My favorite piece we have so far is the one above our bed. It's an awesome print by Julie Ann Art who is probably one of the most creative people I have ever been lucky enough to come into contact with. She's a super talented greeting card designer who makes the BEST BEST BEST cards! Oh, and she along with her equally talented boyfriend Jordan were the videographers at our wedding -why do I feel like all posts lead back to my wedding, is it annoying yet?- ANYWAY, this print is my favorite because it's romantic in a 'Rich and Chrissy' way, not an 'Always Kiss Me Goodnight' kinda way, if you know what I mean.
