I love entertaining at home. Whether it be an intimate dinner party or an all out holiday soiree, I'm almost always on board. My only stipulation is that everything has to be 100%. Food, decor, details, just everything. If not, I'd rather not even do it (it's the Capricorn in me). So when I was pseudo-nominated to throw a Halloween party over a drunken birthday dinner with our friends, I realized that there was no way I could pull off a superb Halloween party in only 2 weeks, so we turned it into a pumpkin carving party, and BYOP was born.
Our friends Greg and Melissa brought over two long tables and some chairs that we set up on the deck. I made a baked brie appetizer -recipe this week!- and put out some other types of cheese and crackers and Melissa made a yummy artichoke dip. We all munched and drank while we pumpkin planned. I was really happy to see how into it everyone was. I was a little skeptical we all would even end up carving but everyone came over ready to go. They had special carving kits, stencils, and Rich obviously brought up a power tool to help everyone along.
After the carving was completed we had a little while to wait for it to get dark enough to take that obligatory picture with the pumpkins lit up so we went inside to have din, but Rich couldn't wait and five minutes later was lighting all the pumpkins up. They came out awesome!
It was a perfect night and we have decided to make it a tradition every year. I'm pretttttty sure that means it was a success!
