When my cousin got engaged last year it was a no brainer that Rich and I would be attending the wedding. I mean, HELLO they live in San Diego and any excuse to go out there is fine by me. We made it a quick trip (3 days) because of work and wanting to get back home to our pups as soon as we could.
It started off about as stressful as any vacation can, with a missed flight. My parents failed to comprehend that you're supposed to be at the airport 2 hours before takeoff. We strolled up to the counter to check our bags -I refuse to be restricted by a carry on- at about 8:06AM. By the way, our flight took off at 8:30AM. The woman at the counter all but laughed at us when we (I mean my parents) were appalled we couldn't get on the flight. Now our previously direct flight had to be re-booked for a later one by way of Salt Lake City, and obviously Rich and I couldn't get seats together. Grrrrr... Luckily a young guy was sitting next to Rich, and had no problem switching seats with me at Rich's request before take off, so nice.
Rich in La Jolla :: Yes, that's his happy face
When we finally arrived in SoCal, we got our rental car, checked in to the hotel, and I got to nap for 15-20 minutes (note: I've now been up since 4:00AM...cranky). We then had to hop right back in the car to head up the PCH to Laguna Beach to have dinner with our friends Jordan and Julie. Even though we were exhausted, it was so worth it to be able to see them, catch up, and toast them as they had gotten married the week prior.
The next day we headed to La Jolla and spent what was probably an unnatural amount of time looking at the seals and marveling about how much they reminded us of our pups (we're weird). We then grabbed some In & Out (naturally) for lunch and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.
The wedding was great, my cousin looked stunning and her new hubby is adorable. The ceremony was short, the bar was open, and the food was surprisingly good for a wedding. It was a lot of fun to be able to hang, drink, and dance with my cousins/aunts/uncles, and for Rich to finally be able to meet my grandparents.
Congrats Lauren & Tanner :: #touchdownengstrand
The next day we had brunch in PB, walked the boardwalk, and then spent a few hours driving around some of the surrounding communities in San Diego, marveling at how gorgeous it is there and wondering why the Hell we don't live there already. We then went to my aunts, ate a yummy Hawaiian dinner (I don't know what it consisted of, but it was delicious) and hung/caught up with the family for a bit longer.
We then headed back to the hotel to pack and get a good nights sleep, as we were leaving the next morning and let me tell you, we were not going to miss that flight.
