I received an email from Refinery29 the other day telling me something that I had been suspecting for a while now. That the push up bra was over and the bralette is currently reigning supreme. As member of the itty bitty, all I could think was HALLELUJAH! First of all, there are few things more uncomfortable than a bra in general, but a bra with a ton of padding...ugh, the worst. I just never felt, excuse the pun, natural with a big ole' push up bra on. Like, I don't have big boobs, so why am I faking it? For guys? If they were lucky enough they would find out the truth in time anyways, so what was the point? But I was young and programmed to believe bigger was better so I obliged for many, many, too many years.
Then I was introduced to my new BFF (Bra Best Friend).
A few years ago, one of my best girlfriends worked for a store called LF (google it). Bralettes were just coming into vogue, and this store was big on the ones with the thin little straps over the front of your ta-tas that looked oh-so-cute with the right shirt...you know what I'm talking about, yes? Anyways, I picked up a few, loved them and wore basically e v e r y d a y. I then picked up a few from old faithful Victorias Secret and to be honest have been wearing them pretty much non-stop ever since.
Nowadays there are a million different kinds made by every brand you can think of, and in my opinion some of them are way sexier than any push up bra I've ever donned. So join me in the bra revolution, where comfort, style, and sexiness have blended together and you don't feel the need to immediately remove your undergarments the moment you arrive home.
