Today is our four year wedding anniversary so we're off to Philadelphia for the night to celebrate. We've both never been there but have heard good things so we're pretty pumped to explore the city...and by explore I mean eat and drink our way through it.
Four years is a weird anniversary. It feels like a long time to be married, but not at the same time. I feel like over this past year we've grown in our relationship and as individuals. I feel very lucky to have someone who lets me be me and accepts all my crazy.
Marriage is work, sometimes hard work, sometimes easy, but when you both put in the hours, the end result is awesome and there's no-one else I would rather be going through this life with than Rich.
Today is our TWO year wedding anniversary. TWO YEARS!
As I was going through the 1200+ pictures of our wedding day deciding which one to post, it was crazy how many little moments were captured that I had forgotten about or maybe had not even realized were happening at the time. It's that old cliché, that your wedding is going to go by in the blink of an eye, make sure to savor every moment. You always think, NOT ME, I'm going to be totally present and remember everything. Well, newsflash...you won't. Get yourself a good photographer and videographer, it will be worth every penny.
I also kept thinking how insane and scary it is how quickly time/life goes by, and how I am so thankful everyday -even on the hard days- that I have Rich by my side. There truly is no one else I would rather be on this ride with than him.
We're going to celebrate later by going to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner and then probably coming home and watching our wedding highlight a few times. It will be a low key, early to bed evening. Just how we like it.
Our wedding was featured on The Knot this week which was kinda cool since they reached out to us for the feature even though it will be two years in September since the wedding. It made me realize how insane it is that we were standing on the roof of The Andaz in San Diego almost two years ago. It still feels like it was yesterday, but at the same time a lifetime ago.
It's crazy that we've almost made it through two whole years of marriage. I don't know, but for some reason two years seems like a bigger milestone to me than one. It's like everyone assumes you're probably going to make it to your one year anniversary, but two?
Time for a pat on the back, it's official, this is a marriage folks!
So how did year two compare to year one? I think it was harder. I think we had to learn to compromise more and we had to have some tough conversations. If I'm being honest, I think we may have fought more, but I also think we were able to make up quicker than in the past. I think all of the things we've gone through and obstacles we've had to overcome have made us stronger as a couple and helped us realize the direction we are going to go in as a family.
Bottom line, marriage is hard and it's work. It's hard f-ing work. But you both put in the time and effort because when you do, it's awesome.
One year ago today was the best day of my life. I got to marry my best friend, surrounded by all of our family and friends, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. To say I was, and continue to be blessed would be the understatement of the century.
Throughout the past year a lot of people have asked me what being married is like, all that commitment and such. I tell them it's awesome, and here's why. First and foremost, Rich is my best friend and I am his. There is no other person in this world I want to spend my time with more than him. No other person I want to experience this journey we call life with more than him. I tell them that above all else, you have to be friends first.
Things with Rich are just so easy and I have never felt like our relationship was 'work'. Sure we have our moments where it's not all sunshine and rainbows, but I think that's normal. What really matters is how quickly we discuss any issues we have, figure out how to resolve them, and follow through on the fix. We balance eachother out perfectly, he's the yin to my yang, and it doesn't get any better than that.
we're married! :: me, cheesin' hard
And because I can't get enough of it, the highlight! Ugh, LOVE.
A month from today is our one year anniversary. Unbelievable. Since we're not taking our anniversary trip until November, on our actual anniversary in September we are going to go into NYC, stay at Andaz 5th Avenue and see a show. It will be a quick little overnight getaway for us to celebrate. I thought it would be fun to stay at the Andaz since we were married at the one in San Diego. I'm really looking forward to it. If you have never stayed at an Andaz before and have the opportunity to do so, BOOK IT. The service is impeccable, room decor is gorgeous, and food is amazing.
And although you probably wouldn't believe it from the frequency I post about our wedding, it wasn't the only one we attended this past year. -haha- So I thought I would share some of my favorite pics I took from the weddings we had the privilege of being a part of.

How many blonds does it take? I snapped this picture at my friend Lindsey's wedding while the girls were bustling her dress before the reception. I think in the end it was done wrong and she had to have someone else redo it, but this pic was priceless with all that blond hair lifting up her dress!

This was at my brother Mike's wedding to his wife Bridgit. I love this picture because it involved their son Parker and Bridgit's daughter Hayley, who my brother has since adopted. The officiant gave a moving speech about them becoming a family and I had to capture the moment.

Melissa and Greg had the most chill wedding reception. They got married in private and then had everyone over to their home for dinner and celebrating. I love this cake cutting picture, it might be a little blurry, but from the sunflower to the grooms hat you can tell it was 100% done their way and I love that.

It was so hot at Jenna and Joe's outside ceremony I thought I would melt, but this moment made it totally worthwhile. I absolutly love this picture. I think it's one of the most perfect wedding kisses I have ever seen on film and I can't wait to see their photogs pic of it! It was a good one.

And just for good measure, above is a cute candid someone in my bridal party snapped of Rich and I walking back to the limo after our portait session, which was in a mall parking garage, and was AWESOME. I love all the people around us just going to the mall on a Sunday and here we are in full wedding attire walking around.
Soooo, a year ago today was my bridal shower. WOWZA! I cannot believe how fast time has flown.
I was super involved in the planning of the shower with my Mom (a Mexican Fiesta, obvi). I knew I wanted it at her house - I'm not a catering hall type of gal - and I was Hell bent on the whole thing being outside on her amazing back deck. Unfortunately, the lovely Connecticut summer had other plans. I woke up that morning and I swear it had to be the absolute HOTTEST day of the year. And not just hot. I'm talking hot and humid like you can't breath. Good thing everyone was forced was a good sport and willing to tough it out. We survived the majority of the shower under the pergola and only moved inside to open gifts. I mean, how could I subject my guests to sitting in that heat to watch me open gifts? - I'm not completely heartless - But I did move everyone back outside to play 'pin the mister on the man' and hit the piñata!
Anyway, it was a success regardless of mother nature being a total B, a few pics below to prove it!
you know, just your typical bridal shower game :: courtesy of my fantastic mother in law
It must be Sunday morning...I know this because I'm sitting on my couch, about ready to brew my second third cup of coffee (oh Keurig, how did I ever survive without you??), and pouring over Pinterest. Is there any better way to spend the A.M.??
I first came across Pinterest the way most did, I got engaged. Suddenly, instead of only blogs and magazines for wedding inspo, I had this one place that had a million pictures and links that I could save in one spot and go back to for reference. I'm not going to lie, Pinterest played a big part in helping me find my vision for my wedding. If you go to my wedding pinterest board you can see a lot of my inspiration for colors, flowers, and even my bridesmaids dresses.
But as soon as the wedding was over, I didn't really see a point to pin so often. Ya, once in a while I would pin an outfit or two to my "Style" board but frankly, it started to seem like a big waste of time. Then we bought our house, and I went crazy.
I finally had this space that was going to be mine and I could do whatever I wanted with! I was a woman obsessed. All I do is find things on Pinterest that I love, show them to Rich, and together we put our own little spin on them. I'll say it again, I am so incredibly blessed to have this man in my life. He is a true craftsman and I can't wait to show you what he can do!
I truly believe your home should be a reflection of who you are, even though it may not be to everyones taste. I like pieces of art and furniture that get people thinking outside the box. I want people to walk into our house and say "Wow this place looks like Chrissy and Rich, I get it."
I'm not quite ready to share actual pictures of our home yet (it's a work in progress, but believe me, when it's ready I will!) but I wanted to post some of my favorite home decor Pins. Enjoy!
Goooood morning! Hope everyone had a good 4th! We spent the day at a rehearsal bbq for two of our best friends, Jenna and Joe, who are getting married later today! It was held at an amazing lake house in upstate CT and we spent the day jumping off the dock, paddle boarding, eating tasty food, and most importantly celebrating the bride and groom to be!

This will be the first wedding we will have been to since ours in September. CRAZY, because I feel like our wedding was a lifetime ago, but at the same time like it was only yesterday. It brought back so many memories and feelings that I found myself just looking at my husband a few times throughout the day and thinking how incredibly lucky I am that he asked me to be his wife. And then it hit me, that's why we're all here today, to celebrate L O V E.
Yes, obviously we all want the best venue, decor, dress, music, vendors, etc. and they are all an important part of your day. I believe they can help show your guests who you are as a couple, (and lets be honest, we're all a little competitive when it comes to our weddings). But when it's all said and done and you wake up the next morning, your dress is crumpled on the floor, your designer shoes are destroyed, and your bouquet is dying, its about the person laying next to you. Your teammate, your lover, your best friend. Thats what it truly is all about, the love.
That's why I can't wait to celebrate with Jenna and Joe today. They have that love for eachother that everyone can see and feel and that love that I hope Rich and I emitted on our day to all those present. I have a feeling that tonight will be magical, and I cannot wait to share it with you in the coming days!
